- [Instructor] With a paper form, you can scan the whole document before answering any questions. This means that the person filling out the form always knows their location, and they can estimate how long it'll take to finish. In contrast, online forms are different. Providing accurate feedback to users is paramount to ensuring that they have the information they need prior to starting. A key difference between short forms and long forms is that they require a different user experience. Short forms are filled out in a couple of minutes, where long forms can take hours. And it's expected that people will take breaks between sessions. For long forms, you need to include a you-are-here feature that keeps the person orientated, while also giving the ability to estimate how much time is remaining.
