- [Instructor] System messages are a messaging pattern to communicate system events that have taken place. Usually as banner at the top of the page. Sometimes this pattern is also called an alert or a notification pattern. This messaging pattern is at the global page level, so it reflects whatever is happening on the page. This pattern doesn't work as well for situations in which the message is more effective if it's contextual, rather than at the global page level. Usually these messages are in a banner style because of the global nature of the message. Global messages go at the top of the page to ensure the user sees it. System messages are usually in the form of confirmations or success messages, errors, warnings or general updates and informational messages.
