Tooltips and popovers

- [Instructor] Tooltips are small, helpful lines of text that provide guidance on an action, or more information to describe an element. They act as in-line help, and provide additional contextual information. Tooltips appear in a small pop-up that's activated by hovering over an icon, a field, or sometimes a link. If you need more information that needs to be visible, Tooltips may not be the right pattern. They're intended for very concise information, with no more than three lines of text. There's no standard approach to where Tooltips appear. Sometimes they're above, below, or next to the element. You just want to be mindful of whether or not it's blocking something important while it's in an open state. When Tooltips are activated on hover, they usually don't stay open long enough to have any buttons or links inside. So, it's a best practice to only have text in Tooltips when activated on hover.
