User experience for non-designers

- [Tom] Well, hello there. My name is Tom Green, and I would like to welcome you to UX Design for Non-Designers. UX Design is not just graphics and interactivity. It is a process involving people at every step, and that can be intimidating. In this course, I start by reviewing the various stages of the process from research to user testing, with an emphasis on who does what and when. From there, we move into the research phase, starting with making the business case to creating personas and user flows. And after that, we roll into that age old question of, well, what does this project look like? With that, we walk through the process, starting with sketches, task flows, wire frames, and paper prototypes. When we finish with that, we move into what a UX designer does, the tools that designer uses, and the importance of the words on the screen and the importance of a design system. The course finishes up with why prototyping has become so important, the tools used to bring it to life, and some user testing techniques you can use before the project is handed off to the developer. Finally, though there is an exercise download associated with this course, there are no exercises. Instead I provide links to specific LinkedIn Learning videos that will provide you with a deeper insight into the topic covered in each video in the chapter. There's a lot that gets covered in this course, but as I make clear in the very first chapter, there's nothing mysterious about User Experience design, because when you get right down to it, UX is nothing more than common sense.
