Learn about using the Burn and Dodge tools to darken branches and add highlights.
- [Instructor] With all our adjustments applied,…the top of the tree looks rather pale…against this strong sky.…Now you'll remember that we masked the sky initially…by setting its visibility so it was hidden…where the background was dark.…To boost these trees, let's make that background darker,…so we'll tap on the Layers Studio…to open it, and select the Background.…
Now, let's select the Burn Brush,…and let's boost the Opacity of this tool…all the way up to 100%.…When we now drag it over these stray branches…it darkens them and so strengthens them up,…allowing them to show through the sky,…where they were previously hidden.…Let's compare before and after by tapping the Undo Button.…Here's how it was.…
And here it is after we've painted in that adjustment.…Let's double-tap with two fingers to fit in the window.…I like the way the tree on the right is lit from the side.…Let's see if we can replicate that effect…on these bushes in the front,…so tap and hold on the Burn Brush,…and now we get a new set of tools nested within it.…
