Creating metal with Curves
- [Instructor] Here's a pottery bust of Shubert, and I want to turn it into gleaming metal. So let's start off by going to the layer menu and we'll choose new adjustment layer and curves. Let's move the bust over to the side. And to make the curves effect, we simply make an up and down stepping motion on the curve itself. So working from the left, keep dragging points on the curve and drag up and down until you get this stepping effect. Now you can see that it's also changing the colors of the underlying image. And we can fix that by changing the mode of this layer from normal to luminosity so that it affects only the brightness and darkness and doesn't change the color at all. We can now adjust these curves to increase the metal effect. It's looking somewhat muddy in the shadows, so let's pull down and in fact go through the rest of the curves and simply exaggerate the whole process.
