Learn about adding a Layer Mask to refine the visibility of the sky.
- [Instructor] We've tucked the sky behind those trees.…Now let's make it hidden behind the castle.…To do this, tap the Layers studio icon,…select the Sky layer, and tap the Mask icon,…and choose New Mask Layer.…Let's zoom in by pinching.…And the way layers masks work is where you paint in black…on the mask, it hides the layer.…Where you paint in white, it reveals it again.…
So let's switch to our brush tool…and try painting inside the castle.…And you can see how where we paint,…the sky is being hidden behind this castle.…Let's use a larger brush.…So tap on the width and drag it to make it bigger,…and you can see that circle growing in the middle…to show the size of the current brush.…We can now paint out the inside of the castle.…
You'll notice I'm keeping well away from the edges,…and we can go over the foliage at the bottom,…where the sky is showing through.…And notice again how the interface ducks out of the way…when you paint into it…so it doesn't interfere with your painting…and so you can see exactly what you're doing.…
