Skill Level Intermediate
- Hi, I'm EJ Hassenfratz, and I'll be your host for this five day motion graphics challenge. So far in these challenges, you may have noticed me using some terminology like easy ease, squash and stretch, and timing and spacing. This next challenge is all about the art of keyframing. Breathing life and character into even a simple sphere through animation. You'll learn about the most important animation fundamentals that will beef up your knowledge and understanding of what makes an animation look good, and why.
You'll be able to apply this knowledge to every single animation you create in the future. Now, many people who perhaps didn't go to school for animation, like myself, we're not necessarily taught these principles, and needed to figure them out all on their own. This fundamentals challenge will help you build your skills from the ground up. Just like working with clients, work is incomplete without feedback. By sharing your work online, you'll connect with people who can give you useful feedback on your work, and that will enable you to get better at your craft, and help stay inspired.
I urge you to post your work on social media using the hashtag 5daymograph, and on the challenges Tumblr page, at 5daymograph.tumblr.com.
