- Well, after effects offers a 3D environment in which to work, the layers themselves often appear two dimensional. This is sometimes called two and a half D, or one of my favorite terms for it, postcards in space. Is it possible to have a fully three-dimensional layer interact with a 3D camera in after effects? Let's see what's involved. I'm happy with the design overall of the three shots, in this sequence. And now I just want to plus them up, starting with this shot. So I'll double click to open this, and twirl down the controls on this 3D layer. And under geometry options, while that one's great out. And there's a blue link that says change renderer, so click that. And now I'm in the composition settings panel. We've looked at the basic tab, and now I'm on the 3D render tab, and I have two choices. So I'll switch to cinema 4D, and now I have a set of features that are enabled and disabled.
