Adding dimension to a design

- While After Effects offers a 3D environment in which to work, the layers themselves often appear two-dimensional. This is sometimes called 2 1/2 D or one of my favorite terms for it, postcards in space. Is it possible to have a fully three-dimensional layer interact with a 3D camera in After Effects? Let's see what's involved. I'm happy with the design overall of the three shots in this sequence and now I just want to plus them up starting with this shot. So I'll double-click to open this. And twirl down the controls on this 3D layer. And under geometry options, well that one's grayed out, and there's a blue link that says change renderer so I'll click that. And now I'm in the composition settings panel. We've looked at the basic tab and now I'm on the 3D renderer tab and I have two choices so I'll switch to Cinema 4D. And now I have a set of features that are enabled and disabled. So what's enabled now are extruded…
