Apply random colors with the Variation shader
- [Instructor] Welcome to another Motion Graphics Weekly, where you up your MoGraph knowledge, one week at a time. I'm EJ Hassenfratz, let's get our learn on. Applying materials to many objects can be a huge chore. But the Cinema 4D Variation Shader allows you to quickly and easily apply defined colors randomly to many objects. Let's check out how it works. So here is my scene with a few koi fish. And at the moment, they have the same color which is this orange color right here. Now if we want to apply random colors sampled from a gradient or colors that we define, the variation is perfect for this kind of work flow. So let's go ahead and go to our texture button here with the little arrow. Go all the way down to effects, and chose variation. Like many effects, especially those in sketch and tune, this won't be represented accurately in our view port.
