From the course: After Effects Guru: Time-Lapse 3D Motion and Compositing
Building a scene for complex movement in 3D space
- Now that we've gotten down some basics of moving the time lapse around in After Effects, adding motion, and even creating animated text, let's get into something a bit more complicated, compositing. These kinds of techniques are the basics of any special effects shot in Hollywood. And they all work with layers just like in Photoshop. It's really easy to understand. We are going to use the same basics of 3D space we just learned After Effects is capable of. But instead of manipulating text, we will be manipulating the actual time lapse itself to do amazing things. Let's dive in. So before we start compositing, it's always good to understand exactly what our limitations are. For an example like this, we're shooting from inside the Lincoln Memorial and we're looking out at the Washington Monument. And we have these two giant pillars to the left and the right of us and the bottom part area over here that can easily be cut out. And compositing is all about separating the layers so that…
