- [EJ] Welcome to another Motion Graphics Weekly where you up your mograph knowledge one week at a time. I'm EJ Hassenfratz. Let's get our learn on. In this video, we're gonna talk about gobos. What they are and how to quickly create them using lights in Cinema 4D. So let's start by going over what a gobo actually is. A gobo, in cinematography or photography, is a piece of flat steel or glass that's placed in front of a light on set that projects whatever pattern or image that's on the actual gobo. So if you stick a screen or blinds in front of a light, it'll cast vertical stripe patterns onto your subject. So why and when would you use a gobo? Well, if you wanna add drama, interest, and texture to the subject, it's a very good use. Or when the scene really has no real subject or if the subject needs to be emphasized in a cluttered scene. So trying to go for a certain atmosphere or lights coming through trees, these are all good uses for using gobos. So let's go ahead and break down…
