Distort a layer
- When we looked at the range of effects available in this application, I mentioned that one whole category, as I think of them, are the transformative effects. Another way to think of these is distortion or deformation effects. These terms make it sound like the idea is to make things look less linear and perfect and kind of odd, but they can also be used to create something perfect in its own right. Let's use a tool from the distort category to turn a linear graphic into a perfect arc. So here's my linear graphic, the moon cycle and I've restored it to the scene as it was in the edit. And we'll scale it down, holding the shift key to constrain so that it fits in the frame, move it up into the sky, and then in order to get it looking like moons in the sky, I'm going to switch to modes down here in the timeline and set a screen blending mode. If I scrub through, I can see that the moons look really good when the sky is dark…
