- [EJ] Welcome to Motion Graphics Weekly, where you up your MoGraph knowledge one week at a time. I'm EJ Hassenfratz, let's get our learn on. So an animated GIF is a very popular graphics file format that's easy and fun to share on social media. In this video, I'm going to cover the best ways you can optimize your GIFs in Photoshop to ensure the smallest file size while maintaining image integrity. The best way to reduce file size from the get-go is to render out your animation with a low frame rate so it shortens the animation that way. So 30 frames per second allows for super-smooth motion, but typically 15 or 14 frames per second is the best depending on your image and your animation. So I have an image here or an animation here that I'm going to load up. And if I hit play in my timeline, you can see this is actually 30 frames per second, so it's nice and smooth but since there's so little colors in this animation, I can get away with having that higher frame rate.
