Masking a solid layer

- [Instructor] In this movie, we're going to get started with your introduction to masking in After Effects which is another one of the techniques that you need to create really stunning visual effects. It's not very difficult to master, and in fact, you've probably done masking in Photoshop, for example, with vector masks and what have you, so it will seem like familiar territory, at least hopefully. What I'm going to do is add a new solid layer here, so I'm gonna go to the Layer menu at the top, New and Solid and the only thing I'm going to draw your attention to here, I'm just gonna call this one Sign2 actually, is this little eyedropper because if you click on it, you can move it out onto your artwork and sample a color from the artwork. In fact, pretty much anywhere that the cursor can go, even outside of the application you can pick up colors, so if I hit OK, then my solid layer is there. Now, along with my housekeeping as before, what I like to do of course is bring that up…
