- [Instructor] There's a new pick-whip control in Aftereffects that links expressions together. It's extremely simple. I'm presenting it here in a short lesson only because so many people are unfamiliar with even the basics of expressions and tend to avoid using them in any fashion. This new expressions pick-whip that was prominently added to the timeline may even help encourage more people to use expressions more often. Here's how it works. So you're probably familiar with the ability to use the pick-whip here in this column to parent one layer to another. Now you may notice that this column is now labeled parent and link, and we'll see why in a moment. But if I were to just parent one layer to another using the pick-whip, let's say I twirl down here and adjust the rotation, well that's what's happening with parenting. So now they're both rotating off the center of the white star, which is the parent. I'm going to undo that, and undo again to get rid of that parenting link. And…
