- Here's a shot that's used as an example in both the color keying and the rotoscoping and edge courses. Now, we're going to make it look a lot better by pushing the foreground and background quite a bit further than one might expect. To get us there, we're going to take a look at real world reference. So even just by taking a look at those shots, my shot is looking incredibly dull. And so to fix that, we're going to start with the background. Now, we know this is a shallow depth of field shot. How do we know? Let me turn off the background for a moment, and you'll see that this mirror is way out of focus, as is the foreground mirror, and she's in. So this is a shallow depth of field shot. Well, that means that that background is going to be way out of focus, and to accomplish that I'm going to use camera lens blur. And I'm going to crank it up pretty high. And not only am I going to make that background pretty blurry, I'm also now going to make it pretty blown out. To do that, I can…
