- Okay, so a lot of what you can do with text in Photoshop and Illustrator is also possible in After Effects, but what about animating type? Although the particular design we're looking at doesn't really call for animating individual words and characters, let's take a look at a little bit of what's possible with animation before matching the motion of this text to the shot. So, I'm going to clean up a little bit here and just trim this layer in. If I hold down the shift key, I can snap it to the layer below it. And I'm also going to set my work area the same way. And I'll twirl back down to reveal these text options before, and under Path, we didn't really look at everything. So, one set of controls we have are the First and Last Margin.
