of a review of what we looked at in the last course about using practical lights, but we're also going to talk about using practical footage and effect shots as well. that exists in the real world. visual effects actually refers to. Now when you have explosions or something that happens in real life, those are called special effects. These effects usually look better, but they can't be changed once they're shot. They can also be dangerous on set and really slow down the production. For me, the best balance between convenience, economics, flexibility and believability is to do visual effects but to supplement those visual effects with practical elements. As we talked about more in depth in the last course, lights can be used on set to supplement effect shots. and then turn on the LED flash here. We also held a light overhead in this shot to supplement the appearance of the little light ball. And finally we used a practical light back in the forest to light up the surrounding leaves…
