From the course: Motion Graphic Design: Animation

Welcome

- [Angie] Hello, I'm Angie Taylor, I'd like to welcome you to my course, Creative Motion Graphic Design, The Principles of Animation. This workshop is part of a series that will break down a real world project so you can see the entire process from idea development through to final production. The aim of this course is to give some ideas and techniques about how to create dynamic and exciting animations using your Creative Cloud software. Together, we'll start at the very beginning by discovering how to create engaging and convincing solid drawings. You'll learn how to use the principles of staging, anticipation, and motivation to guide the viewer's attention within your motion graphic designs. We'll then take a look at how you can apply some of these animation principles to your work in After Effects, learn all about the different key frame types, and learn how to make the most of them, get a better understanding of the value graph, and speed graph, seeing how they can be used to gain precise control over the timing of your animation. Learn how to make things behave in a convincing way, with a good understanding of basic physics, you'll find out how and when to apply the laws of gravity, directional force, weight, mass, and resistance. And finally, we'll look at the classic rules of animation, used for adding emphasis and excitement, these include squash and stretch, secondary action, pushing past the pose, and exaggeration. You'll learn how to exaggerate elements to add humor, horror, or any emotion to your motion graphic design. So let's take a look at this most exciting and demanding component of motion graphic design.
