- [Instructor] If you're not familiar with the term 32 bits or don't really understand eight bits or bits per channel or any of that stuff means, then you really need to watch this video. I will warn you that it will be a little bit more tecnhical and less than fun than the movies in this course. It's mostly just informational, but once you get this, it will totally change your art, your color correction, everything. But you have to watch 'til the end to see the payoff. What you learn in this tutorial will dramatically affect the realism of all the fictional UI elements and also any light effects that you create. Now by default, After Effects works in eight bits per channel mode. The channels referred to here are the color channels, red, green and blue. So there are eight bits in each channel. But let's back up and talk about what a bit is. A bit is the tiniest thing a computer can understand. It's short for binary digit.…
