- [Narrator] Once you've created your subdivision element. There may be times where you want to extract some of those entities. I'm going to show you how to do that using the extract command. So on the screen here, I have a subdivision model, and quick way to check again is to object display, shading mode, box mode. So I want to go back to regular smooth mode or any one of these will do. I'm going to use S for hardware shade. And I'm going to go into my top view. And I'm going to extract this band of faces in here. So let's go to the extract command. If I double-click that, it's a really simple dialogue box. You can keep it original. Or you can actually extract those surfaces and move them off so you create a void or a gap in this particular model. So let's say, keep original for now.
