Offsetting SubD elements

- [Instructor] There are times during your design process where you have to offset your subdivision surfaces to create a part thickness or whether to create a clearance zone. So I want to show you a couple of different techniques that we can use to create offset surfaces. So in this case I'm going to switch to box mode by pressing B and let's go into object edit, offset. And we're going to go with geometry average and just put in a value of five and let's go ahead and try to select this. Now, in this case here I have to pre-select my subdivision surface. So let's go ahead, pick object, and let's go back to the offset command. And let's do a spacebar to accept. And I'm just going to go up to object display, hide unselected. So you can see what it's created here. Actually, our nerves and Bezier surfaces because if I press the B, nothing happens, but if I press S for shaded mode, smooth shaded you'll see that it shades up.…
