Capturing star trails

- There are a few additional options inside the Advanced menu that you might want to take advantage of. You could press the Menu button, and you'll see multiple pages here. Now, we've already talked about the Applications settings, but I do recommend the Self-Timer. This allows you to insert a two second delay before the shot is made. Shooting Tips will walk you through things. One of the things to realize is it's going to be essentially impossible to auto-focus when shooting at night. In this case, you should look for a bright star, and try to manually focus on it. You can use the Focus Magnifier option to zoom in and make it a little bit easier. They give you some guideline here. And this is much easier if you're shooting in a star environment, where the sky is very clear. You can use an app like Night Sky to help you project where the stars are going to be.
