- [Instructor] When it comes to the internet, a cookie is a small piece of data that is stored on your web browser once you visit a website. So cookies help web masters to remember important information such as what websites users have visited, what items users have added to their cart, what login information users have created, and what affiliate has sent them to that website. So this is really important for you as an affiliate. Your cookie duration basically is how long a website will remember this information. So a typical cookie duration is normally between 30 to 90 days, but some websites will store this information for longer than that and some websites will store this information for shorter than that. It's important to remember that not everybody who comes to your website or to a website that you send them to via an affiliate link is going to make a purchase the very first time they visit that website.
