About using cloud services

- [Instructor] In this course, if you're following along with me, you will be working with Amazon Services, and there are a couple of caveats that I want to share with you and also tips. First of all, if you're new to AWS and you sign up as a new account, you want to use a dedicated login for testing. If you have a new account, you'll have access to the free tier on AWS which will cover some but not all of the services that I'll be showing here. The biggest tip that I'll give to you, whether you're using a new account, a free tier account, or perhaps a test account within your organization, is when you're done working with a service, it's really important that you turn it off. These services accrue charges, and I really don't want you to end up with some unexpected charges after you're done studying the new services here. The last tip that I'm going to share with you, and I'm actually going to show you how to do it later in the course, is to set up a billing alert. This is a great check to help you to remember. In case you forgot to turn something off, you'll get a notification when your service charges hit a certain threshold.
