Anything as a Service (XaaS)

- [Narrator] A cloud computing environment can potentially use a number of different service models. The first service model we'll talk about is Anything as a Service, otherwise referred to as XaaS or Xaas. The idea with Anything as a Service, is that we are really generally describing an IT service that's accessible over a network. The X really serves as a variable, because you could have many variations of as a service. Now, this service that's accessible over a network can be available over public network, like the internet, or maybe only available internally on a private network, such as an intranet. The thing about accessing services over a network, besides the fact that that IT service is running on somebody else's equipment somewhere else, the fact is that the client device that's used to access that service can be of many different types, could be a smartphone, could be a Mac, could be a PC-based laptop, tablet…
