Enhanced networking

- [Instructor] In addition to selecting the right EC2 instance type for your workloads, another performance improvement that you can apply to your instances is enhanced networking. Enhanced networking provides higher bandwidth, higher packet per second performance, and lower inter-instance latencies on supported EC2 instance types. Enhanced networking uses a device virtualization technique, known as SR-IOV, or single root I/O virtualization. This results in higher I/O performance and lower CPU utilization compared to traditional virtualized network interfaces. SR-IOV is a highly technical specification and its discussion is beyond the scope of this course. There is no additional charge for using enhanced networking. All current generation instances, except T2 instances, support enhanced networking. There's a couple of ways by which you can enable enhanced networking.
