Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

- [Instructor] Infrastructure as a service, or IaaS, is a cloud computing service model. IaaS is related to common IT technical tasks, which means the deployment and ongoing configuration and management of items related to networking. Things like deploying new networks and subnets with IP address ranges or configuring and deploying storage such as provisioning more cloud storage or adding capacity when you need more storage space or perhaps encrypting data at rest for regulatory compliance. IaaS also deals with servers in the sense of deploying virtual machines running either Linux or Windows. Because those are IaaS, it means that we as the cloud consumers that deploy these virtual machines, we are responsible for configuring the operating system, installing any apps that might be required and configuring them, and then applying software updates to the OS synapse within those virtual machines.
