- [Instructor] Well, you knew there had to be a section on monitoring, but to be fair, we're just touching on monitoring, reminding you of the importance of monitoring your applications and all of your components at AWS. With monitoring, you want to figure out, Is there an issue? Because I made a change. I'm trying to achieve better performance, but maybe I messed up. So I want to solve those issues before my end users call up and say, "This new version isn't working." And we've all been there; using an application which changes dramatically, and it wasn't properly tested. So we use metrics. The metrics are per AWS service, and we can decide, what metrics do we want to use? Are we monitoring the CPU? Are we monitoring the network? Are we monitoring the storage? The number of connections? We define the metrics and we link them to alarms. And when things aren't going as planned, the alarm lets us know there's…
