Moving files to the cloud

- [Instructor] Now a key question around scalability of files is, how will you get your data into the cloud? And that means, initially, and could potentially mean also on an ongoing basis, if you're going to have a hybrid type of a strategy, or, it could be, you have a migration period. Importantly, if you're using some sort of interoperability, it's critical to consider managing costs for data coming out of the cloud. Not only cost, of course, but you're going to want to understand and consider potential latency. Because you'll have applications that'll be dependent on that data. So it can get pretty complex. Now, applying what we were introduced to in the previous movie, this framework for making decisions about selecting cloud architectures, applying this to files. If we look at the Re-host method, then we would use lift and shift. And we would simply move our file servers onto EC2. The second one was Re-platforming, lift and reshape.
