- [Instructor] With platform as a service, as a cloud customer, we don't have to concern ourselves with deploying the underlying virtual machines and maintaining those virtual machines to support a higher level solution, such as a database. So to deploy a database as a managed cloud service here in the AWS Management Console, I'm going to search for RDS, Relational Database Service, and I'll click on that to open that console. I'll then click Create database. I'm going to leave it on Standard create as opposed to Easy create. And I'm going to choose Microsoft SQL Server. I have other options such as MySQL, Oracle and so on, but depending on my workload, will determine what I select here. I'm going to leave it on SQL Server Express Edition which has a limit of database sizes up to 10 gigabytes. For my purposes, that will be fine.
