Rapid elasticity

- [Instructor] Rapid elasticity is a cloud computing characteristic. What we're referring to here is the ability for cloud tenants to provision or deprovision cloud resources quickly. So this means not only to expand or grow on resources like cloud storage or adding virtual machines, but also the ability to quickly remove those resources when they aren't needed, thus reducing cloud computing charges. So elasticity in the cloud then can be done manually. We can manually add additional space for storage in the cloud. Or perhaps we would schedule elasticity. That might come in the form, for example, of having a collection of virtual machines hosting a single application and we know that we're going to have a busy seasonal time for that application, perhaps it's e-commerce on the internet. And so we could schedule additional virtual machine instances to be up and running to support the app during busy times and also…
