Secure cloud management strategies
- [Instructor] Deploying virtual machines and databases and cloud services of the like is important, but we need a secure way to remotely manage them, such as when working from an on-premise network and reaching into the cloud. So let's start by talking about cloud resource remote management. There are many ways that this might be done. So we might have a technician, perhaps working from home or traveling or working from an on-premise network, that makes a remote connection to manage cloud resources, like Windows virtual machines on Remote Desktop Protocol or RDP port 3389. Or the remote management of Linux hosts using Secure Shell or SSH on port 22, Microsoft SQL server remote management on port 1433, MySQL Server remote management on port 3306, and this is just to name a few examples. Now, to secure that remote management, there are a number of steps that can be taken, the first of which is to hardened servers.…
