- [Instructor] Software as a Service otherwise called SaaS is a cloud computing service model. With Software as a Service we're really referring to end user productivity apps. Now, these are apps that still adhere to cloud computing characteristics, such as the fact that it must be accessible over a network using pretty much any type of device. Whether it be a smartphone, a tablet, a laptop, a desktop or some specialized IOT device, such as those in the medical industry, it could be anything. However, generally speaking with Software as a Service, we don't have much to install on the client device if anything. In some cases you might need to install a web browser plugin for enhanced functionality or in the case of a smartphone, it might be more convenient to install an app designed for that platform to run an app over a network instead of using a web browser which could become clumsy and cumbersome on a small device.…
