Use AWS Cloud services

- [Instructor] In this course, we're going to work with AWS data services. Now, there are some best practices when you're learning about cloud services, and they are as follows. First, if possible, set up an entirely separate AWS account just for training. This is the cleanest way to make sure you don't have any surprise charges if you have something in production if you have a completely separate account. Whether or not you're able to do that, you should set up a billing budget and alert for training purposes. I just set up around 25.50 US dollars. The reason is if you set up, let's say, a cluster, that can incur a lot of charges if you leave it on overnight, for example. So if you're just working with it for an hour or so, if you have a billing budget and you forget to turn it off, you'll get alerted, which is really a useful tip. Now, some of the services that we're going to be working with are available in the free tier if you're a new AWS customer, but not all of them. So as we're going through, you're going to want to pay attention to what are the potential costs. And also, as always, when learning cloud services, when you are done with your training, you're going to want to turn the services off. So turn the virtual machines off, turn the clusters off, and delete them when you're done. This is the most efficient way to use cloud services while you are learning.
