Register as a Google Play developer

- [Instructor] Before we can begin publishing our application to the Google Play Store, we need to sign up for a Google Developer account or at least register an existing Google account as a developer. We can do this by going to play.google.com/console/about and clicking the button in the top right. If it doesn't show up for you like it isn't for me, scroll down a little, and it will appear. Click Go to Play Console, and sign in to continue. Once you are signed in, you'll be brought to a screen that will ask you to accept a few agreements before continuing. Scrolling down, the first one is the developer agreement. This is the distribution agreement that goes over all the fun legal stuff and info about that 30% fee that they charge. And the Google Play Console terms of service is the second one. Once you're comfortable with them, check the I agree button next to both of them, and click Continue to Payment. There is a one-time Developer registration fee of $25. I am going to fill out my information, and I will be right back. Once you complete payment and have filled in a few more bits of information about your account, you will be brought to the Google Play Developer Console homepage. You may see a message that asks you if you would like to use the new Developer Console. I recommend switching over if you are still using the classic console. The old version is being discontinued in November of 2020, so you will be forced over at that point. And if this is your first time to the new console, you may also see a welcome pop-up that offers you a few videos that introduce you to the console. I'll skip through these because I have watched them already. And it may look a little empty right now, but don't worry, we will change that soon enough.
