How is Apache installed, and how can I tell if it's installed?

There are a number of different methods of installing Apache. I'm going to provide an Overview of each. Then we'll investigate to determine which method was used. The first method, and by far the easiest, is using a Package Management System. A package manager automates the process of installing, configuring, upgrading, and removing software from an operating system. Examples of package managers include dpkg, the Debian packaging system which is used for operating systems like Debian and Ubuntu. Typically, a secondary interface is provided for working with dpkg called Advanced Packaging Tool, or APT. Another Package Management System is rpm, which was originally intended for Red Hat Linux, but is now used in many different operating systems. Similar to APT, rpm is often wrapped with Yellowdog Updater, Modified or YUM for short for rpm-based systems like Fedora or CentOS.
