Adding GPS data to a a spatial database
Many companies and Government Agencies depend on GPS locations for their operations. Parks at all levels are continuing to publish GPS data on their websites to aid hikers. The common format for the GPS data is the .gpx format. Many of the inexpensive hand held GPS devices provide software, to connect your GPS to the computer. Some come with conversion to a standard GPX format, even some mobile phones have this capability. You could easily convert your GPX data, to a feature class and arch map. Once you have brought in those locations, you can begin your analysis and visualization. Here in arch math, I want to show you how to do this conversion. In Arch toolbox we can choose to convert our GPX file to a feature class. If you're like me, you love to be outdoors and probably use your GPS handheld wherever you go.
