Another way to collect and create geospacial data, is the scan to map georeference registration method. I want to show you this common practice and then how to create a simple geodatabase to begin digitizing elements from the scan. In this case we'll access the exercise files. I'll open up here in ArcMap the georeference map document. Here we have Kelvin boundary points. These'll be our reference points for this georeference registration. I also have scanned an image, a historic image, of the campus of Kelvin college. Let's bring that in now, through the exercise files. It's called Plan_A. Of course it doesn't have any spatial reference right now, but we will give it a spatial reference through this georeference registration method. I'll click OK. When doing georeferencing, you need to use the georeferencing toolbar. You can access the toolbar either from the Customize menu. Right here, Customize > Toolbars > Georeferencing, or a shortcut that I like to use, here in the top of ArcMap.…
