- So here we are at the beginning of the project, our surveyors provided us a DWG of the survey of the property, or the owner has provided us a PDF of their building and we need to get that into a three dimensional kind of space, we are going to talk about the virtual trace. So if you go up to window, and you go to palettes, and then you go to Trace and Reference, so let's just click on that. So it opens up this dialogue. And if you use trace paper, it's very similar. So what I like to do is I'm going to just put this over below my navigator, and you can scroll over to what you want to trace. So let's just trace the survey for now. So if I click on this, and I can say show as a Trace Reference, it is going to pull up the survey. And because it's little far away, so it's way up there. And it looks like the layers are off.
