Framing your composition
Now we've had a look at line and then how a shared edge is so important when you first learn to draw. We can now use your frame to actually compose your drawing. Either a landscape or portrait layout, can be very important. Not only for using as a viewfinder, so you can line up what you're looking at. But also as a way to help guide you when you're drawing. So you can just use the lines around the edge of the frame. It will really help you to see those shapes that we've talked about previously. So what we've got to do is just lay this down and draw around the inside of it so you've got edges to work to for our first drawing. And just with the 3B pencil, which gives us a nice sharp edge but is soft enough to work with. Okay, and now we've got a frame to work within.
