- [Amy] Thank you for joining me. The tonal strategies introduced in this course will help add dimensional drama to your figure drawings, and the environments they're posed in. Now that you have basic tonal tools, it's time to practice, practice, practice. Draw people wherever you go, the park, cafes, music events. The more you look, the more you'll see. Challenge yourself to draw people at different times of day, to create atmosphere and feeling. A figure drawing group at a local museum or art center is a great place to practice. In addition, working from Old Master sketches will help you develop your style and introduce you to varied types of mark making. Keep a small sketchbook and pencil with you at all times, and just get into the habit of drawing when you get a moment. You might be waiting for the commuter train, on your lunch break, or while your baby naps.
