Progression and reduction

- Every conclusion begins at inception, but that is exactly where the similarity of pathways ends on nearly every project. I've seen sketches that are so dang close to the final solution, you'd have a hard time telling the two apart. You'll also have ideas that log so many miles of trials and iterations, you'll be surprised they ever cease. It's the mystery of discovery, and one of the most rewarding treks you'll take when you reach that quintessential solution you could sniff in the wind but never saw coming. I encourage designers to never discard designs that serve as a trail to the final solution. Good reasoning here as well. Discarding any exploration along the way forces you to stay focused on a single idea in a belief there is only a direct line that will progress to the end. There is not.
