- [Narrator] Turning an egg in space and drawing it in varied lighting situations is an excellent way to practice a softer, more rounded approach to figure drawing. It's like we've soften the corners of our blocks and the tonal progressions are now more gradual then to plan our approach. And now it involves curves. Look at this incredible Da Vinci drawing. It's full of eggs. I can highlight close to a dozen eggs on the figure. These shapes are muscular volumes just beneath the skin. When in doubt, make an egg shape. Roundness relays life and strength and curves are super fun to draw. One useful idea is imagining an egg with a string wrapped around it or what we might call a cross-contour line. This enhances dimensionality and can give guidelines for directional mark making.
