Close miking a grand piano with two mics: Method two

There's another way to mike a grand piano with two mics. In fact, this method is used at least as often as what you saw in the previous move. Here's how to do it. Place a mic aimed at the center of the back of high strings and another at the center of the back of low strings. Although it sounds better with identical mics, it's not required in this technique. (music playing) Move each mic as needed to the left or right to get the best balance and stereo image. (music playing) This method requires some experimentation, but can result in a very pleasing sound that can be easily changed to fit the track. (music playing)
