- So that's one example of how to use distortion in a mix. Another one, just like parallel compression, you can do by parallel distorting something. So you can send a group of tracks to an aux end in your box, and really smash it up with some other plugins. The interesting thing is that plugins are far more versatile than hardware stuff, in general. So what we do here is I make a stereo aux input. I'm a stickler for labeling, so I label everything. That's gonna be our drum distortion. That's gonna be a prefader send from all the drum tracks. So I've set that up on bus one and two. We'll make all the tracks prefade. We're gonna relabel the bus, drum distortion, so we know what bus it's on. Now the plug in I've been using recently for distortion is the UAD emulation of the Thermionic Culture Vulture. It's a great sounding box. You can really smash stuff up. There's many other options to this. There's other app software you can use. SansAmp, Chrome Amp over here. There's the air…
