- [Voiceover] So let's move on to that 47 and we'll check out that little trashy mike that I have over the knee. - Can you give me a little more kick, snare, hat there Ross? Yeah, feel free to throw fills and cymbals and stuff in. I'm listening to that front 47. - [Voiceover] First up is the Telefunken U47 and I'll put that about six to 10 feet away from the drum kit and with this I'm looking for depth in this sound, so when you're listening through the speakers, I want it to sound like the drum kit exists more than just on the plane of the speakers. I want you to be able to reach into that sound and this mono mike panned right in the middle of the speakers will help us achieve that. Next up is the stereo Royer mike that I've got and I positioned that just above that Telefunken U47 so that if I wanna use them in conjunction with one another to create a bigger sound, the stereo mike plus this mono mike, I can do so without any phase and time discrepancies.
