Welcome

- [Voiceover] Hi, I'm Ryan Hewitt, and I'm going to share some techniques with you to get some great drum sounds in your studio. A drum kit is one of the most difficult instruments to record well. Simply because there are so many individual sources that make up one really big sound. As a result we need to consider each source in and of itself, as well as with respect to all the other pieces of the kit. Each piece needs a sound great on its own, and in combination with the other mics. In this course we'll be recording a well tuned drum kit, in one of my favorite rooms, EastWest Studios famed Studio 2 in Hollywood, California. We have all my favorite mics plugged into their stunning Neve 8028. We have Ross Garfield aka "The Drum Doctor" here to help us get our sounds happening and we have Josh Freese, one of the most prolific studio drummers in the world, here to lay down some tasty tracks on our song. (fast paced rock music) We've got lots of sounds to explore and I'm very excited to get started. (fast paced rock music)
